Here I did digital illustrations of figure observational drawings because I was hoping to involve figure work or a digital aspect in this project either experimenting or in the final piece.

Here I used MSpaint to sketch out the figures, one is a basic figure piece more focused on the figure its self. The other one is more around gesture and details within the subject. the last one I wanted to try and use colour, give it a sense of realism but yet very stylized experimenting with colour's and layers.

Observational drawings of a gas mask relating to the topic of war- gases which are linked to always tragic events such as evacuating or the tool to survive through an attack to hurt someone. I chose to draw the gas mask because with radiation exposure being at a high-risk a gas mask would be practical  to protect a person's internal (protecting radiation to enter through the mouth, nose or damage the eyes and to help filter out the air to breath.)  I did the first two drawings out of pencil with graduation. I did two different perspectives and I plan to do more. I then highlighted areas and did biro drawings with crosshatch to explore methods. I then also tried to draw one continuous line sections and added in shading to give the work depth.

I did a repetitive work with the same image overlaying. I transferred the design onto white fabric and started embroidering with bright colours. I did a cross hatch method that made the outcome look cleaner. I asked some people what is their reaction towards the work to collect their reactions and to explore what to do with it. The reports I got back is that its eye-straining and because it was an image of a gas mask it was rather frightening.

I moved the gas mask towards a digital medium where I will have more experimentation. I first uploaded the image I did originally that was an observational drawing. I traced over it and created this image here as a base to start experiment with it on different programs. First I attempted MSpaint.

Here I attempted overlapping the design in groups of two in worked of squeare in mathematics terms. This design came out interesting and I will print out and put into my sketchbook and try printing method with it.

I created a pixilated version of the mask by colouring it digitally on MSpaint only using squares. After I had the final outcome that is the image on the left. With the program being MSpaint, making the image smaller and larger again would corrupt the image's display and I explored this with the two images besides. The second image is hard to make out that it was a gas mask in the first place making it abstract but the third image, the gas mask is roughly made out.

I attempted to give the drawing a digital realism using Gimp 2.0 program with the blur tool and with two layers, one being the sketch/ line art and the other being the colour/ final outcome.

Figure observational drawing that I hope to use for final outcome

With these figures, I tried to see what outfit and what colours would work and would also link to the time period and be suiting to the situation/ the nuclear. I coloured the clothing in acrylic paint
