Proposal
Context
For my final major project, I will create my own children's story book; character design, visual experimentation around illustration and creative writing.I was inspired in Waterstones in Milton keynes Central with the children's book section. Children's books are always bright, beautifully creative and always has a lesson at the end. It’s a visual way to communicate to a lot of people with the eye catching drawings and surrounded by them I decided that this is what I wish to create.
To start this project off I will mind map story ideas and researching popular and famous illustration children book, illustrators and I will include M.A.R.S. (Maths, Arts, Religion and Science), The following I will go into depth with research the illustrators/ writers: Carle E. (1969) ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’,Putnam/Philomel (US) Hamish Hamilton (UK), Kerr J. (1968) ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ HarperCollins, and the television producers/ directors: Donaldson J.. (1999) ‘the gruffalo’ Macmillan, Noel P. (2005) ‘Corky and bottle top bill’ Original network, ABC, Child L. (1999) ‘charlie and lola’ Orchard Books ,Bocquelet B (2011) ‘the amazing world of gumball’ cartoon network.
I plan to go into depth with this project with creative writing that will be inspired by these artists, writers and directors. To make this more effective This is inspired by Czajkowski M (2012) Avas Demon, Available at http://avasdemon.com/, and Satrapi M (2000-2003) Persepolis L'Association. I will broadening my research around Illustration by looking throughout the history of the subject outside of children's books. I will also push outside the traditional drawing medium of Illustration for experimentation and research with collage/photo montage and 3D aspects with artists such as Richard Hamilton (1922-2011) and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880 -1938).Experiments would include turning the 2D elements such as character designs and landscapes designs into 3D so it’s possible to view all sides of the creations and could branch out towards different outcomes for the story’s presentation.
Throughout this project I will upload annotations of my progress along with my designs and photo evidence of any 3D, work explaining my ideas along with feedback and action that will be taken. I will collect primary images ranging from life drawing to taking photos of sceneries or inspirations. Collecting feedback would be visible through a table along with actions planning to made towards the feed back to make my work and journey more powerful. I will write all the progress on my wix page about every day lesson as well as the development of A1 sheets with a sum up of my visual journey through research, experiments and final outcome ideas.
The audience I am aiming towards with this project and overall outcome is: Children (3-12) The reasoning behind this age group is because the book I wish to be placed within the most colourful and full of life section of a book shop; the children's section. children are drawn to bright objects with strange shapes. With this narrative I have the chance to change the way the child sees the world.
At the end my final designt will be completed along with maximum five-six A1 sheets, a online journal (wix) that will go into depth about my journey and my sketchbook and once all complete I will write an evaluation about the project and the final piece. In this project I will use the following programs: iDesign, Photoshop, Gimp 2 and MSpaint. For material recyclable objects, paper, ink, pens and paints.

Creative writing/ story
First Draft
The moon is bright and charming but yet she is sad. She frowns down at the earth below.
She only sees the humans while they sleep and the moon is very envy.
She wishes to see them play, dance and laugh but instead, she only sees them in their slumber.
One night she sat in the sky and an idea came into mind “Why not go down to earth and play all day” she thought. “I’ll only be gone a day, no one will notice!”
Her face lite up with excitement at the thought that she could play and that she won't be alone anymore. She has always wanted a friend.
The first draft wasn't as successful as I thought it would be, it seems too childish even known it being a children's story I do want it to still reach larger audiences also. It does seem like a cookie cutter approach at first with it being this simple but it's a step forward. I do like the idea of a personified moon as it can lead to a rather interesting story. For the next approach I will try and move away from spoon fed story and make it more however the viewer may think it shall be. To work better I will roughly plan a beginning, middle and ending
Setting:
Forest/ woods
ideas: The main character escapes the moon and the moon wants her back resulting to fears projected onto the forest to manipulate the main character to come back to the moon - involves shared childhood fears of being lost and being chased by something.
Begining:
The main character runs away from her home, the moon because she seeks adventure and is tired of the place.
Climax:
She is being chased by personified fears, she faces 2 phobias and overcomes them
Ending:
she is unable to face the 3rd phobia and is left unable to leave the forest.
This story is simpler and has the hint of horror which I want, But I'll have to add more detail do make it clear of the start and the end. I also want the story to have a cliffhanger that would want the audience to have more of the story.

-
The rabbit of the moon
-
The man of the moon
-
phobia 1 - Strangers ( toddler years)
-
Phobia 2 - Monsters (pre school years)
-
Phobia 3 - death (older years+)
the forest/ woods which is to represent Earth in a setting where the main character is lost and overwhelmed
Th main character, the rabbit of the moon runs away from the moon, her home. She is tired of the place and seeks something new. The man of the moon isn't pleased.
The man on the moon personifies the rabbit's fears in hopes to make her return. She is up against two phobias which everyone goes through when they were children. Its the main characters growthgrowth and acceptance journey every child goes through
The rabbit overcomes the past fears and is unable to overcome the last one, death. She is unable to run away from it and in the end she accepts it.
