Shoe Experimentation
I was given a pair of shoes to explore, to explor the angles and ways of understanding what was infront of me. I firstly did this by drawing the shoes in different positions, Here I tried to make it simple and get an idea with shading and placement.
I did another version but tried to make it more dificult for myself. I rearanged everything to get an idea and make it easier for myself to understand the shoes structure. I used a normal HB for these sketches and I could have gone a step further and used 2B and so on pencils used for detail and shading.
Here is the photos I took of the shoes for both refrences and an other element to explore them with. I took many photos but only these two gave detail of the shoes while the others were simular or werent fit enough to present.
This work i tried to do a more highlighted area of the shoe. I chose to do the opening as it has movement and flexiblity and was easy to change its shape. It also was intresting to draw as it gave the shoe personality and an expressive perception.

This wasnt successful as I rushed this work just to understand the work and not really do detail. I manage to redeem myself through a later work on an A1 sheet which is drawn in detail and given time and effort.

I wanted to explore more, so i did a single continued line to create this work, It was hard since i picked a birds eye view of the work then what i did to the past works. so it was faster to complete and easy to do but the hard part was making it look effective

I wanted to explore this line methored more so I did a blind contour/ blind drawing so not only did i look at the details on the shoes but I created something intresting, The lines look like a huddle mess but the detail is there.

Here i Tried to draw the shoes in highlighter marker but the image seemed too bland so I went in with acylic paint, white and yellow and added in detail and the outcome was intresting, It gave it more life and expression and It seemed like something with a vincent van gogh vibe with the bright yellows and blues.

after the drawing I wanted to see if I could do anything with positive and negatives. I then thought about sticking masking tape onto black paper to create the shoe! I would first draw a rough outline of the shoes then go over it with thin cuts of maskin tape or huge chunks to create an intresting image. I personally think this work was a success.

I wanted to explore the scale and the size of the shoe, I placed the shoes on top of a sheet of paper and drew around it. I then filled in the areas with ripped up black pieces of paper to create a shadow like work. I think this could have been better. I could have ripped up sheets of magazeens, news paper and gave it more intresting texture and shape. It was a stepping stone.

The idea here was to create an oppisite of the maskin tape work, but with black paper cut up and stuck onto a white sheet of paper. This worked out well but I would change the scale of this work. It was rather small and the lines where big and bulky. It does create a rather simplified work of the shoe but I believe it would have been as effective on an A1 sheet,

With this work I wanted to experiment with time and speed. I timed myself about one minute each shoe, and I drew with a marker. The outcome was rushed and helped me understand the shape and detailed on the shoe faster.

With this work here i wanted to explore texture and shape. I used string for this. I drew a very rough sketch of the shoes and then went over it with string and masking tape to give it a 3D appearance and a bumpy surface.
Here I wanted to test out colour. I used ink for this piece. I made it out really rough and used blue ink for outline and shading while I used the red ink for highlight and shading. The outcome I am expremely happy with as the appeance and colours work well.

Here I wanted to explore materials. At the time I only had lace and a paper bag. I ripped up the paper and used that for the mian material for the shoe. I used the ribbern for the place area and the front of the shoe as the string was the laces.
This turned the show which looked rough and had camo pattern on it appeare to look elegenat through this experiment.
Mixed Media Experimentation
Here I used white acyic paint and stuck down paper onto it, But the paper was sheets from old books which would give the sheet intresting texture and distruction appearance to the work. I would rip the paper off the sheet to give this effect.
I tried to explore texture and prints here, I tried sewing different pieces of paper together and then printed over the top with different colours. The plan is to stick this together with different texture to further explore distruction.

DADA/ collage experimentation

DADA is a collage movement, I wanted to explore Hannah's work through my own. I used about five photos of myself and started to put them together. To show difference but also simulirties, contrast.

The first imagine I connected the faceual parts together to create a image where everything fits but the contrast is still high.

The second image I wanted to explore with Hannah's eye work, the enlarged eyes is common in her work. I used it in mine and it can be explored more whihc i would like to look deeper into.

Here I was experimenting with cut outs/ collages and making fun of something which was the whole point of DADA, I see this work as a success as the materials i had was rather limited as I only had a sales catalog but i tried my best to make sure everything made no sense. The major issue here was that the scale was going to be a problem. The goal with this is to fill up an A1 sheet and make it a collage work to makeup or to highlight a statement or issue within the world but these cutouts only barely filled an A3 sheet. To solve this I would cut out large images I would print offline and create larger versions. I would like to still use images from magazines within the work somehow.
3D Experiments

Here i tried to make negative molds to create a textured positive outcome of the most interesting parts of the shoe. I pressed down the shoe onto the clay and once I was happy with it I'd build a wall around it so when I pure the plaster over the top it wouldn't get everywhere.

I think i could have make this much better with deeper details and used more of the shoe than just the sole of the shoe.

Here i used plaster Mod Roc to make copies of the details of the shoes.
